Beloved, you are already blessed. This means that you are empowered to prosper. When Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again, He did not just win victory over sin, He won victory over poverty too. The psalmist understood that prosperity is a part of salvation and said ‘Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity (Ps 118:25). Believe that the blessing of the Lord is in your life already. This will help you to create enduring wealth that can last many generations. This article seeks to explain some things that Christians should do to ensure that this potential of being blessed translates to the reality of financial prosperity.
Adequate Knowledge
First and foremost, the believer must have a good knowledge of the BLESSING. You must receive a revelation from God directly as you meditate on His word that He has blessed you with the BLESSING of Abraham in Christ Jesus. Because, you have accepted Jesus, you have access to everything that God gave Abraham and many more. Many Christians know this on the surface but lack revelational knowledge in adequate measure that can produce results.
God wants you to be highly knowledgeable about His promises, His blessings and their benefits. 2 Peter 1:3-5 says God’s divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. You have a right to the blessings of God but any aspect that you don’t know cannot be fully enjoyed. God doesn’t bless people unconsciously. God would not want to violate your will. Remember that understanding is a wellspring of life to those who have it (Prov. 16:22), therefore don’t stop at superficial knowledge. Get a full understanding of the word of God concerning prosperity, then you will be drawing benefits from it forever. Moreover, you should have knowledge of how money gets transferred.
Revelations from God
When Jacob needed to build wealth to prepare for his household, God gave him a revelation in a dream about the method to use to produce special breeds of animals that will be different from Laban’s flock to avoid argument at a later date (Gen 31:10-13). The currency in heaven is revelation. When you pray to God to give you money, the answer many times is a revelation of something you can do to generate money. Start paying serious attention to the ideas that drop in your heart because they are likely to become the source of your wealth.
Prayer of faith
The just shall live by faith. We as Christians receive everything we need from God by faith. Exercise faith in the word of God. If you cannot see the blessing in your mind, you cannot experience them in reality. You should let the word of God dwell in you until you receive a revelation of what you expect in your heart and you can visualize it. You need this level of assurance in your heart to be able to receive anything from God. Jabez knew that he was blessed as an Israelite, he called on the God of Israel to change his status and became more honourable than all his brethren. He prayed the covenant of blessing into manifestation (1Ch 4:9&10).
Don’t blame God for your financial situation. It is your responsibility as a Christian to believe God for the abundance He provides. Learn to exercise your faith to receive something higher than your natural capacity as long as it is the Holy Spirit who puts it in your heart. Some people find it difficult to expect anything beyond their salary/ paycheck or usual profit from their business. You have to step into the water and then the Jordan will part. Expect an increase by faith but don’t get worried about your finances. If you rest, God works; but if you are worked up and worried, He rests.
Work diligently
Discover your God-given purpose or life assignment, receive directions on what God wants you to do and work diligently. Your purpose doesn’t necessarily have to be done in church but must lead to the expansion of God’s kingdom. Then, identify the activities around the purpose that can bring money. Package them properly for those who need them and God will bless it. Where your vision or passion is, there is your provision (wealth).
Look for problems in your environment and create solutions for them. Money comes to people who are solving the problems in society. He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows frivolity will have poverty enough! (Prov. 28:19) What matters is to work on your own land. Your own portion from God might not be in paid employment. Years ago, I searched for a job as a Consultant Public Health Physician for some months and later took up the challenge of writing a book to enlighten people about healthy diets. Thank God, the book has created an avenue in public speaking for me and encouraged me to publish other books which have grown into a business.
Prov. 20:13 says ‘Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty; Open your eyes, and you will be satisfied with bread’.
There should be a problem that you are passionate about. The solution might be a service or a product. Create a reason why people should give their money to you without begging them.
Package and offer your skills to those who need them. Whatever skill or talent or ability you have, can receive God’s breath to help you create wealth but you must turn it to what people really need. David admonished the people of God in Psalm 37:1-3 that they should stop getting angry, complaining or envying bad people who prosper in their ways, they should rather trust in the LORD, and do good; so, shall they dwell in the land, and verily they shall be fed. This simply means that someone who sincerely follows God, trusts Him and does good cannot continue to lack. Find something good to do. It may not bring a lot of money at the beginning but if you continue to apply yourself to it diligently, it will bring a lot of money that can make you wealthy in the long run.
Don’t despise that good thing you can offer your world just because it looks little or unrelated to the course you studied in the university. Many university graduates are making a lot of money from working on construction sites, tile setting, furniture making, farming, website designing, fashion designing, hairdressing, cooking, baking, driving, car washing business and similar jobs. Even though there are many people who are offering certain services already, fortunately for you, many of them lack excellence, integrity, and love. You as a child of God can release your own ability with excellence, integrity and kindness to an extent that you will excel others in that business.
Don’t expect people to give you money without selling a product or rendering a service. The value created is what would attract value (money) to you. God cannot violate the principle of His word. If you don’t work hard, you may not have enough! Remember that even if people give you money, it can only last for a short while, it cannot make you wealthy.
Everyone has an ability
God has given everyone at least one unique ability that can create wealth. Some people have high mental ability, some are very strong physically, some have special artistic or musical or other skills while others are highly connected socially. Start with whatever you have the ability to do and exercise faith in God to make it prosperous. Prov. 14:23 says ‘In all labour there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty’
You can volunteer to work without being paid in your dream organization for some time believing that you will be employed. If you think you don’t have any skill or ability you can buy and sell something. Don’t just copy what others produce or sell, identify areas of need that are not yet fully occupied and begin to solve problems in that area. Otherwise, improve on what others have been producing or selling.
Whatever your hands find doing, do them diligently and ensure that you are growing. Don’t stay in dead end jobs that cannot lead to a better future. Ensure that your value appreciates and can be delivered to the great and mighty people who can reward you adequately. Have a long-term perspective to wealth creation and be diligent in your work.
Confess God’s promises about prosperity constantly
Always confess God’s words about prosperity. If you always speak and behave as if you are poor, that will be your experience. Stop speaking so that people will think you don’t have much money. Speak prosperity; the worst that could happen is that people will expect you to give to them (Meanwhile, what matters to God is that you give to those in need as directed by the Holy Spirit).
A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth, from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Prov. 18:20&21)
Cultivate an attitude of thanksgiving & praise
If you want the blessing of God to manifest in your life, then you should cultivate the habit of always thanking and praising Him. He lives in praise; therefore, all mountains and problems will flee in His presence. The Psalmist said, ‘Let the people praise You, O God; Let all the people praise You. Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall fear Him’ (Psalm 67:5-7). If you want an increase, then learn to thank and praise God in all circumstances. God will bless you so much that the whole world will wonder at your life and fear God.
Maintaining God’s presence
Cultivate God’s presence more. All the things we do in God’s presence (thanksgiving, praise, worship; studying and meditation on the word; as well as prayers) are important in activating His blessing. God always pours His blessing on people who maintain His presence. In God’s presence, you will get ideas and direction concerning how to make wealth. God ‘s presence was with Joseph and he was blessed. This blessing made Joseph prosper in Potiphar’s house though he was a slave (Gen 39:2-4). He prospered in the prison though he was a prisoner (Gen 39: 21-23) and in the palace as a deputy to the King (Gen 41:40—45).
God’s presence in Jacob’s life made Laban’s flock to increase and Jacob to receive the revelation of how to receive his wages from Laban (Gen 30:30). Run away from sin, offence, being too busy and other things that can disturb God’s presence in your life.
Give to others, live below your income, save, invest continuously, avoid debts and expect God to increase you. Your BLESSING will surely manifest as financial prosperity in Jesus name. See you at the top.
